The Honda Civic – Small Family Car Review

One of America’s most popular vehicles is the small 2011 Honda Civic.  It’s comes with very good handling plus has a quality build which you would expect from the Honda brands.  There’s not a huge amount of space in the back seat, but the rear boot is very spacious when compared to other cars in this size, range, and price point.

From a negative angle it’s hard for an adult of over five and half foot to sit comfortably in the back – so suits smaller children.  Plus the driver’s visibility is slightly compromised when trying to look through the back windows and there’s some bumping when driving at increased speeds.

Performance of the Honda Civic Car

This affordable hatchback is extremely responsive when revving plus has great acceleration in addition to very smooth changing of gears.  Be aware that there’s currently no diesel version for economy minded customers – but it’s a fun car to drive and can be picked up very cheaply.

Riding and Handling in the Civic

It is light and agile whilst motoring – but the steering does not feel as good as it could.  Driving into corners feels lethargic, but then suddenly after turning slowly the Civic will pick up pace meaning you might turn that corner a bit tighter than anticipated.

Speed and Control of the Honda Civic

When driving at top speeds of plus 70 miles per hour then the Civic can get a little bit noisy.  The suspension tends to feel a lot of the bumps and niggles on uneven road surfaces – but the flip side of that is the fact that the engine is extremely quiet when operating.

Additional Extras

You can pay for additional add-ons such as rear air bags which should be a consideration for those using this as a family car with children.  You can also choose to have the Honda Navigation System included which will save you money on a standalone GPS device.  However, every year you will need to purchase the Honda Civic GPS Update disc which costs about $150 US Dollars.

For money off the Honda Navigation DVD then you can actually redeem a Honda Navigation Coupon which typically gives a saving of around 15% on the final purchase price.

Honda Civic Review Conclusion

In terms of consumer ratings then the Honda Civic is worth about a seven out of ten on the recommendation scale.  It will suffice as a small family car and run-around, but don’t expect it to deliver on advanced functionality.   It’s a cheap family hatchback that values affordability over style.
